Tech institutions need to display correct data on their websites

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Few institutions have uploaded incomplete information on their web portals, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has “strictly requested” all its accredited institutions to check and ensure the availability of mandatory disclosure in the main location of their websites (like a quick link) with correct data.

In a letter, AICTE said it was observed that most AICTE-approved institutions considered to be universities and universities had uploaded incomplete information in the mandatory disclosure and discrepancies were found in various fields.

“For this reason, AICTE has received a large number of RTI queries and requests in the form of grievances from students/faculty/non-teaching staff, parents, aspiring students, etc., to obtain details of an institution that should be easily mentioned in the mandatory disclosure in accordance with the AICTE Approval Process Manual,” AICTE said.

“Therefore, the Approval Office – along with the AICTE Regional Officers – must deal with these unforeseen RTI requests, early appeals and, therefore, must clarify the matter prior to the Chief Commissioner’s hearing. (CIC), which disproportionately diverts manpower and resources from this public authority,” he added.

The Technical Education Regulator noted that this unwarranted correspondence could be stopped by posting their mandatory disclosure on the website of AICTE approved institutions and universities/reputable universities.

AICTE noted that it was essential to post the information submitted to the Board as mandatory disclosure on the main location of the institutional website (as a quick link). He ordered the institutions to do the necessary in this regard.
